Wardian London

May 15, 2020In Blog, Lifestyle

Wardian London is a residential-led development under construction on the Isle of Dogs from Eco World-Ballymore and designed by architect firm Glenn Howells.

The scheme consists of two skyscrapers and was approved by Tower Hamlets council in November 2014. Upon completion, Wardian London will be one of the tallest residential developments in London and the United Kingdom.

The Wardian towers’ design has been inspired by the work of one Londoner, the great explorer, botanist, and inventor, Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward. A doctor by trade, he changed the world with his botanical glass container, the deceptively simple-looking ‘Wardian case’, and while contemporary renderings of that aesthetic are a defining feature of Wardian, the influence goes beyond the mere visible.

The vision for Wardian is to take inspiration from his curiosity, his spirit of adventure and his sense of precision, and to create the most exciting new development in the British capital.

Wardian London sets a new standard for the high-rise living experience, drawing from the heyday of modernist architecture and the finest elements of modern building design.

The formal, bold lines of a visionary man-made geometry are complemented by the organic, verdant shapes of nature. On the skyline, beheld from a distance, the two modernist-influenced towers are striking yet simple, refined and yet ambitious, with a glimpse of green hinting at the wonders within.

There will be luxury suites, one and two bedroom apartments and two and three bedroom penthouses in two high-rise (55 & 50 storeys) apartment blocks. Wardian interiors are open plan, light, generously sized and smart.

The contemporary interiors highlights are bespoke details inspired by the Wardian Case which compliment natural materials such as marble, oak timber and glass.

Private garden space comes with every apartment, although corner units benefit the most as they have a larger wrap around balcony.

On the ground floor of Wardian (West Tower) is the Lobby, 24hr concierge, a heated open-air swimming pool plus a restaurant and retail space (East Tower). First floor (West Tower) houses the business lounge, cinema and the gym. The Wardian Club gives members access to exclusive onsite fitness and leisure facilities. Cycle storage is provided as well as limited basement parking.
