One Thousand Museum

February 20, 2020In Lifestyle

Architecture has been always a source of inspiration for me, specially skyscrapers, that’s why One Thousand Museum couldn’t be an exception.

One Thousand Museum

At the beautiful Miami, One Thousand Museum creates a six-star lifestyle within an exceptionally elegant private residential tower designed by Zaha Hadid, actually her last final design.

No need to say that she’s among History’s most celebrated Architects. She has been awarded the Pritzker Prize in Architecture, The Stirling Prize and many other mentions.

Headquartered in London, Zaha Hadid Architects designs high-profile properties worldwide, including the London Aquatics Centre for the 2012 Summer Olympics; the Guangzhou Opera House; the Vitra Fire Station; the Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art; the BMW Central Building; the MAXXI National Museum of the 21st Century Arts; the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum; and the Evelyn Grace Academy.

“I BELIEVE IN THE IDEA OF THE FUTURE”
ZAHA HADID

The residential tower appears as a continuous piece of contemporary sculpture from the podium to the crown. The contrast between the robust exoskeleton and the crystalline glazing of the glass façade beneath it is one defining characteristic.

Chen Man

February 13, 2020In Lifestyle

Chen Man is a visual artist, called the ‘Chinese Annie Leibovitz’. I don’t consider her as a reference for my work or my brand but as a great source of beauty inspiration.

Her work is an example of visual impact, based on creative compositions, elegance and strong use of contrast. Chen Man’s style is influence by her Chinese heritage and culture, showing in many cases the national pride.

“I am different from others because I look at things from a Chinese perspective.”

The photographer’s hyper-realized pop portraiture, shot for China’s Vision magazine, is often 3D-textured through Chen’s mastery with both a camera and computer.

She is credited helping to the evolution of the China’s beauty aesthetic. Although thoroughly modern in execution and appearance, Man’s imagery often references traditional Chinese culture, aiding China’s development of its own idiosyncratic aesthetic.

“The difference between fashion photography and my exhibition work goes back to the third stage of my career. It’s about using traditional Chinese philosophy and Taoist and Buddhist concepts to explore visual ideas in a modern way. I’m not Buddhist but some of the concepts appeal to me.”

5 things about Chen Man

Born: 1980 in Beijing

Family: 2 children

Education: Central Academy of Fine Arts, in China

Her debut: At the age of 23, she published her self-styled photography as covers for Chinese art magazine VISION.

She likes…: Being in contact with real people, not just be indoors and not go out.

My influences Yohji Yamamoto

My influences Yohji Yamamoto

Yohji Yamamoto

January 27, 2020In Lifestyle

I do have many references and I’d like to introduce them to you little by little in this section, starting with Yohji Yamamoto.

Yohji Yamamoto has always been the one to me. He’s a living icon, capable to create not only his unique brand but two. Y-3 was the first high fashion sport brand.

The concept he created along side with Adidas is today copied by many. Besides liking or not his designs (which I love), what I really admire is the way he created two brands with a unique language.

Although Yamamoto’s work changed and evolved over the next two decades, it retained several key elements- the ambiguities of gender, the importance of black, and the aesthetics of deconstruction.

“When I started making clothes for my line Y’s in 1977, all I wanted was for women to wear men’s clothes. I jumped on the idea of designing coats for women. It meant something to me- the idea of a coat guarding and hiding a woman’s body. I wanted to protect the woman’s body from something- maybe from men’s eyes or a cold wind.”

A brand help us to identify ourselves with an aesthetic which leads to a lifestyle, an identity. Creativity, functionality, simplicity, harmony defines what design and beauty is to me.

5 things about Yohji Yamamoto

Born: In 1943 at Tokyo.

Family: 2 children Limi Feu, Yuji Yamamoto

Education: Keio University, Bunka Fashion College

His debut: In 1977 launched his debut collection, Y’s, in Tokyo.

He likes…: to be called a “dressmaker” instead of a fashion designer.
