Shop window display during London Design Festival

London Design Festival celebrates and promotes London as the design capital of the world, and in this last edition Gerard Puxhe has exibited in a shop window display during the London Design Festival.

The Festival has run from 12-20 September 2020. First launched in 2003 by Co-Founders Sir John Sorrell CBE and Ben Evans CBE, the Festival aims to celebrate and promote London as the design capital of the world – this vision has never changed, and this year it feelt more important than ever. Taking place in a year unlike any other, London Design Festival showcased and gave a voice to London’s creative talent.

The 2020 programme featured large-scale site-specific outdoor commissions from Studio Weave and Marlene Huissoud; four Design Districts from Brompton, Kings Cross, Mayfair and Shoreditch; two new Design Routes in Walthamstow and Peckham; and exciting Partner installations, projects, product launches and exhibitions throughout the city.

This year, London Design Festival wanted to put the spotlight on the brilliance of London’s design scene at a time when it needs to be promoted more than ever. They recognised that freelancers in particular have been impacted by the pandemic, and the Festival wanted to support this community by providing a voice to new talent and freelancers. As such, for 2020 they have created a freelancer portal where freelancers and independent designers, including Gerard Puxhe, could share design content and their portfolios with the Festival audience.

During this week, Gerard Puxhe exhibited part of his brand new collection in collaboration with Lone Design Club in a shop window located at South Molton St. (close to Oxford St).  The display included Flow wallpaper and Dawn collection in purple (rug & cushions).

The colletion evokes the fast pace of a city life thanks to the different overlapped asymetrical geometries, and the colour palette shows the vibrating contrast of a metropolis. All this mix produces a powerful visual impact. It’s the result from research and experimentation towards a new urban and sporty interior style.

This exhibition has been an interactive experience that bridged the gap between the physical and digital, by allowing to users shopping the item just scanning the QR code. In partnership with LDC they have presented a new immersive shopping experience that is blurring the lines between consumers online and in‐store purchasing experiences.
